Hawk 5000 VED is a high-end system from Vision Engineering's Hawk family of non-contact measuring systems, designed to achieve the highest levels of accuracy and repeatability. Hawk 5000 VED is the measuring system of choice for users who require higher volume batch measurement of precision components plus high resolution visual inspection, or high accuracy optical measurement of tight tolerance, precision components, or difficult-to-view parts, such as low contrast plastics. QC-5000 PC-based software integrates familiar interface conventions with powerful data processing and analysis tools, including Statistical Process Control (SPC) with CAD import and export.

Hawk 5000 VED has been designed with power, precision and automation in mind, making it ideal for high accuracy, higher volume quality control routines of a wide variety of complex component features. Hawk 5000 VED delivers impressive accuracy, repeatability and reproducibility and offers fully geometric PC-based data processing with Video Edge Detection (VED) measurements to cope with the demands of both higher volume batch measurement and individual component part measurement.
Automated Video Measurement
Accurate video measurement requires advanced image processing software, combined with a precision measuring stage.
Hawk's QC-5000 PC-based video processing software includes an array of measurement tools to ensure the highest levels of accuracy and repeatability, from simple crosshair measurement to multi-edge video edge detection.
Hawk 5000 VED is available with a range of high specification, high performance measuring stage options, providing a measuring range of up to 400mm x 300mm. Every measuring stage has factory-completed non-linear error correction (NLEC) calibration to ensure optimum accuracy, which is traceable to NPL/NAMAS/NIST standards for the purposes of ISO9000. Combined with 0.5µm resolution measuring encoders, this provides a system repeatability of up to 2µm for complete confidence in your results.*
Superior Optics
Hawk 5000 VED utilises Vision Engineering's patented Dynascope™ technology to provide enhanced surface definition for accurate and simple measurement. The superb optical clarity allows fast, accurate measurement of one-off or difficult-to-view features and also allows detailed visual inspection to be performed simultaneously.
Intuitive Microprocessor
Data processing is performed by the QC-5000 fully geometric PC software and is ideal for measuring complex 3-D component features. The QC-5000 software has been designed to cope with the demands of a busy quality control department and includes features to simplify complex measurement routines, plus provides powerful data import, export and analysis tools, including Statistical Process Control (SPC).
Options & Accessories
Surface and sub-stage illumination options enable adjustment of lighting to suit any application. Surface illumination is provided by a shadow-free 6-point ringlight, with the option of episcopic (through the lens) illumination for viewing blind bores or deep surface features. Quick-change macro magnification options are: x10, x20, x50 and x100 (x20 fitted as standard), with high magnification micro objectives available in a 4-turret array: x50, x100, x200, x500 and x1000.

Metro-FORM offers a unique solution for rapid, repeatable & accurate gauging of intricate internal features. Where conventional techniques would involve the destructive testing of a component, Metro-FORM allows a highly accurate internal representation of the component to be made, leaving the original test piece intact.

Measurement
Measure Magic®
To measure, simply probe points and click. QC-5000 detects, without the operator's intervention, the feature type being measured. With the patented Measure Magic® feature, operators can inspect multiple features without taking their eyes off the part, increasing throughput, improving accuracy and reducing user fatigue.
Sound and colour cues, with animated "next-step" prompts help to streamline operator action without interrupting workflow.

Advanced Calculations
Results fields can be customised for special measurement needs and complex calculations by embedding formulas (e.g. automatically calculate area or circumference dimensions with each circle measurement, or perform compound calculations based on coefficients extracted from multiple features).

Part Programming
Simplify difficult or repetitive measurement sequences with an easy-to-use and robust programming interface. Program a measurement sequence once and run it back as often as you need. Measure the same number of points per feature, in the identical sequence, part after part.
Simplified Program Creation
Turn on the Record function to enable the software to 'learn' measuring sequences, tolerances and reporting functions for subsequent parts.
CAD File Import
Import pre-existing part specifications from part programs to jumpstart the part programming process and eliminate transcription errors.
