Amido Black [ FP-CAB25G ]

25gm Amido black is a dye which stains protein present in blood and other body fluids to give a blue-black product. It will not detect the normal constituents of latent fingerprints and therefore must be used in sequence with other techniques when blood-contaminated latent fingerprints are examined.

It is also absorbed by some porous surfaces and may produce a high background colour. Effective on porous and non porous surfaces paper, heavy cardboard, rubber gloves, plain wood, polythene etc. Good results have also been obtained on cadavers.

Care should be taken when dealing with porous substrates as the dye may be absorbed. It is recommended that photographs be taken of the bloodstains before treatment with Amido Black.

Ardox Flourescent Dye [ FP-AFD1L ]    Basic Yellow [ FP-25FD ]
1lt Ardrox is a fluorescent liquid dye which works well with lasers, forensic light sources and even UV lamps. Ardrox can be used full strength or diluted with either Methanol or Ethanol. Although Ardrox developed prints fluoresce under 365nm, better results have been reported while examining evidence with 450 - 480nm light.

25gm A fluorescing dye stain which can be used for improving superglue developed fingerprints. Basic Yellow 40 (Panacryl brilliant flavine) has been found to be one of the most sensitive stains and fluoresces well between 365nm and 485nm.

Gentian Violet Powder [ FP-GVP25G ]

25gm Gentian Violet is a dye which stains the fatty constituents of sebaceous sweat producing an intense purple image. It is very effective for the development of latent fingerprints on the adhesive surface of adhesive tape and decorative or protective films.

It will also develop fingerprints on some other surfaces, particularly those contaminated with oils and grease. Also effective on small non-porous surfaces such as crockery. However it can interfere with other forensic examination such as handwriting, ink, paper and indented writing impressions, body fluids including DNA profiling, fibres, hairs and paint.

This reagent is easy to use but please note that this product is toxic by swallowing or skin absorptions and should therefore NOT be used in large quantities.

Ninhydrin Crystals 100gm [ FP-NC100 ]

100gm Ninhydrin is a very effective reagent for paper and some other porous surfaces. It reacts with amino acids and possibly some other components in fingerprints. It produces visible latent fingerprints on surfaces such as cheques, paper documents, bank notes etc. Simple to use and cost effective as it does not require any additional light sources for examination.

Reacts with blood and may be used for developing blood contaminated fingerprints. If used after DFO additional fingerprints may be developed. Ninhydrin can be used to develop blood contaminated fingerprints on porous and non-porous surfaces.

Fingerprints developed with ninhydrin can be made fluorescent by application of zinc chloride. Mixing ninhydrin crystals in Methanol and Petroleum Ether is very economical as 3.8 grams of crystals produce 2 litres of solution and the shelf life is indefinite.

Rhodamine 6G [ FP-Rh6G25 ]    SPR - Self Mix Powder [ FP-SPR25G ]
25gm Rhodamine 6G is a very good laser or forensic light source dye. Its best used on metal, glass, leather plastic and other objects to be used in conjunction with a Forensic Light Source. However caution coupled with good protective clothing is strongly recommended when using this product, because of its possible carcinogenicity.

25gms Small particle reagent is a suspension of fine molybdenum disulphide particles in detergent solution. It adheres to the fatty constituents of latent fingerprints to form a grey deposit and is a quick and simple process. The dish application method is a reasonably sensitive process but is very much more effective on fresh fingerprints than older ones. The grey powder may be lifted to simplify photography.

SPR Pump Action Spray [ FP-SPR450 ]

450ml Small particle reagent is a suspension of fine molybdenum disulphide particles in detergent solution. It adheres to the fatty constituents of latent fingerprints to form a grey deposit and is a quick and simple process.

This spray application is considerably less effective than the regular dish development technique, but it does have its place when that alternative is not always feasible.

For example this application is ideally suited for use on damp motor vehicles. The grey powder may be lifted to simplify photography.

Sudan Black [ FP-Sudan25G ]

25gm Sudan Black is a dye which stains fatty components of sebaceous sweat to produce a blue-black image.

The formulation contains solid particles of dye as well as dye in solution. It is less sensitive than some other processes for latent print detection but is of particular use on surfaces which are contaminated with grease, foodstuffs or dried deposits of soft drinks.

It will also enhance superglue developed fingerprints.

Superglue Cleaning Solvent [ FP-S1L ]

1ltr Used to remove any build up of white residue deposits inside fuming chambers and from treated evidence. Please note this chemical solvent may damage plastics and painted surfaces.

Finding and identifying blood – Luminol [ FP-luminol ]

To find blood traces, even outside or in a room that has been cleaned, luminol is very useful. The three solutions in this set are mixed before use and diluted with 700 ml of distilled water to provide 1 liter of working solution.

The working solution (which can be used for only a couple of hours after mixing) is sprayed on the area that has to be examined.
Blood traces, even very diluted ones, cause the luminol and the hydrogen peroxide in the solution to react with each other.

This reaction is unique, in that it releases (white-green) light. The reaction lasts several minutes and can even be photographed (in complete darkness) or taped on video (using a light amplifier or "night vision equipment" connected to the video camera).
The solution causes blood traces to run.

Lumiscene [ FP-ChemLum ]

Lumiscene is a revolutionary new, water based, chemical blood search solution. Lumiscene helps to visualize latent/ invisible (e.g. washed or removed) blood stains and patterns through a chemiluminescene reaction and is specifically for use in forensic investigations. This new chemical formula is based on luminol and fluorescein and has many superior qualities and advantages over classic luminol or tablet based luminol solutions.

When a luminol solution comes in contact with blood the chemical luminescence emits dark blue light. When this emission spectrum is measured with a spectro analyser we see that the highest intensity is around 425 nanometer.
